Where’s Elko

Elko is located in north eastern Nevada. Elko is a small town full of some interesting people- mainly miners and industrial workers. Elko has a small population compared to other cities in Nevada such as Las Vegas. It snows a ton in Elko so bring your cold weather gear. The summers don’t get too hot.

Why I Don’t Live Here?

The reason for me being in Elko today is because I have family in Elko. I usually come up here for the holidays to see my family. Other than that, I have no reason to be here. Elko is way too small of a city for me to get anything done. I need to be in a big city where things are happening.

What’s It Like Growing Up In Elko?

Believe it or not, I grew up in Elko. It was okay living in Elko, but I wouldn’t live here by choice. Meaning, I was a dependent growing up in Elko; and I didn’t have a choice. I kind of had to live where my parents wanted to live.

Will I Retire Here Someday?

Probably not. It’s hard to imagine living in Elko again, but I wouldn’t rule out the idea. Elko is a slow moving town. That’s why it would be hard for me to live here. I need to be where the action is at.

Do I like Las Vegas Better Than Elko?

Yes. Las Vegas is where I’m from. I love Las Vegas. It has so much to offer. If you’re willing to work hard, Las Vegas can be very rewarding.
Elko is good for kids growing up, or raising kids. Other than that, Elko can seem limiting.

Final Thoughts About Elko

I’m actually grateful for growing up in Elko because living here taught me to respect people and things. Meaning, small towns have a way of coming back to you. In other words, watch who you flip off at the stop light because it could very well be your neighbor.
Gossip is widespread throughout Elko and Spring Creek. Spring Creek is a city close to Elko. Both cities are pretty much one big city to me because my family travels from Spring Creek regularly to get to Elko.
